Jane Birkin would have loved this hydrating lip mask

Everyone is obsessed with the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask – and they are right to be

This is Product of the Week – a weekly round-up of the Dazed Beauty team and wider community’s must-have buys.

WHAT IS IT?

Brand: Laneige
Product: Lip Sleeping Mask in Berry
Price: £21.00

WHY IS IT SO GOOD?

I’d be the first to admit that I have quite an unhealthy relationship with lip balm. Unfortunately, I’m compelled to squirrel them away in the pockets of all my coats, every handbag, the glove compartment in my car, any place I can stash them. If I leave the house without a lip balm then I’m likely to go into a bit of a tailspin.

During my years of lip balm dependency, I’ve tried many, many products (shout out to Medik8 Mutiny, Nuxe Rêve de Miel, Barbara Sturm Lip Balm, and Eve Lom Kiss Mix – all classics of the genre), and I’ve come to think of myself as somewhat of a connoisseur, so it was a lovely surprise to discover another lip treatment to add to my list of favourites.

You may have encountered people raving about Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask on TikTok or read interviews with Kate Moss in which she endorses it as one of her beauty staples. Because Diet Coke is the only Kate Moss endorsement I can personally resist, I bought a Laneige Lip Mask despite some misgivings about adding yet another product into my nightly routine.

It tastes delicious (I chose Berry but it comes in a range of flavours, from Gummy Bear to Caramel Apple, Mango, Peppermint and many more), but the best thing about this product is the texture, which is rich and thick without the stickiness of a gloss. I keep my Laneige Mask in the drawer of my bedside table and apply it at night before I go to sleep. Unlike many other comparable products I’ve tried, the shea butter, coconut oil and murumuru butter are so rich I can still feel when I wake up in the morning and my lips definitely look more hydrated.
