WHAT IS IT? Brand: PatternProduct: Leave-In ConditionerPrice: £25 WHY IS IT SO GOOD? Our beauty editor, Alex Peters, came back to the office with a handful of Pattern products just before Christmas and kindly gave me a few. I’d never heard of the brand before, although I was familiar with Tracee Ellis Ross so I was keen to try them. I took home the Leave-In Conditioner, Curl Gel, Strong Hold Gel, Styling Cream, Oil Serum and later the Conditioner, but have used the Leave-In Conditioner and oil the most. I’m yet to purchase more as they’ve lasted ages, but will definitely grab another soon. I use the conditioner mostly when my hair is wet – when I’m styling it or moisturising it after a wash – or just before I’m going out when my hair is dry and not giving. It’s also my travelling go-to! I like it because it’s super easy to use. I can be a bit clueless with finding products, especially when it comes to Black hair care, but this sort of does everything in one, and is evidently made with Black hair in mind. It just does the job! It makes my hair smell great, plus it works really well with my hair texture. It also seems to be great for sensitive hair which is a bonus – I’m a lot more inclined to pick this up versus other products I have. Courtesy of Rae Martins Ashton When I use the conditioner my hair looks and feels so much more healthy. I don’t really know what I’m doing with my hair and never have, so it’s always been a bit boring and left somewhat unstyled, but this product has massively helped to enhance my hair’s texture and it’s given me a more rounded Afro shape which I’ve always been looking for. Pattern is a little more pricey than alternative products on the high street (although it’s a fair price for the product – quality and quality!), but I think it’s worth a try. I’d definitely recommend it alongside other hair products and brands I’ve grown to love over the years like Aunt Jackie’s Curl Custard, ORS Olive Oil Hold Pudding etc – the classics. It’s also one for the girlies outside of London since it’s stocked in Boots it’s easy to access if you don’t live near Black hair shops.
