WHY IS IT SO GOOD?
I wanted to see if there were any other ways that I could keep my face looking fresh, tight and de-puffed that could also help to smooth the appearance of lines alongside my general skincare routine. That’s when I came across a gua sha YouTube tutorial. That was three years ago, and I’ve been using it ever since.
I use my gua sha while doing my morning skincare routine, making sure my face has some sort of oil or cream to help it glide across the face without pulling the skin. After moisturising, I take the gua sha and hold it semi-flush to my face, (not on a straight angle) and perform three or four movements in an upward motion at least five times each. There are hundreds of routines on YouTube but I mainly focus on my cheekbones, frown lines and down the sides of my neck to release tension in those muscles. I pop mine in the fridge for an extra cooling/ de-puffing effect.
My face has totally changed over the last three years from using it. My natural bone structure is more pronounced and it gives me an instant lift and tightening sensation leaving me feeling snatched to the gods. It’s really good to use after a heavy night out when you feel busted AF. We’re all familiar with body stretches and exercises, but it’s also really important to stretch and work your facial muscles too, and gua sha really helps with that. You can do it sitting down with minimal effort while working from home or watching TV.
Aside from the aesthetic benefits, it’s also therapeutic – for me, it’s an all-rounder when it comes to wellness and feeling beautiful from within. It helps to alleviate muscle pain, relieve tension, and reduce inflammation among other things. Overall, I would highly recommend. It’s really inexpensive but feels like you’re giving yourself a bouji facial with minimal effort – and the results don’t lie ;)
