ICMYI, this follows the emotional album listening party that the rapper held at the stadium earlier this month (July 22). Originally scheduled to arrive on July 23, Kanye’s tenth studio album failed to materialise after the initial listening party. It was subsequently rumoured that he’s taken up residence in the venue in an effort to complete the project before the new release date (big finishing-your-homework-the-night-before energy). The music we did get to hear at the July 22 event — which apparently broke Apple Music’s streaming record — included collaborations with Pusha-T, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Baby Keem, Jeremih, Lil Durk, Roddy Ricch, and Pop Smoke. Kanye also featured spoken word by his late mother, Donda, and reunited with Jay-Z on the closing track, “I’m Going To Jail Tonight”. The rapper himself, meanwhile, turned up two hours late and didn’t speak a word to the audience, roaming around the stage and occasionally dropping to his knees in an all-red Yeezy look and nude facemask. It’s unclear what kind of show he’ll put on at the second event, but Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia is credited as the creative director. Kanye West’s second Donda listening event will take place on August 5 at 9pm EST, or August 6 at 2am in the UK. Tickets go on sale on August 2 at 10am EST (if you do get a chance to attend, don’t forget your ziplock bag).
