The short clip is an advert for the ongoing adidas x Stella McCartney collaboration, which Grimes also fronted last month. In the video, the musician – mostly holding a mirrored ball – runs around a mountain head-to-toe in the AW19 collection. Following running sound effects – which people in the comments are crediting to Minecraft – the teased track comes in just at the end of the clip. Grimes announced her forthcoming LP back in March, describing it as “a concept album about the anthropomorphic goddess of climate change: a psychedelic, space dwelling demon/ beauty-Queen, who relishes the end of the world”. Although initially believed Miss_Anthropocene would include earlier release “We Appreciate Power”, the singer’s new Instagram caption – announcing that the first single from the album will drop on September 13 – suggests otherwise. Shortly after revealing her fifth album details, Grimes explained her desire to kill off her stage name, telling the Wall Street Journal, “I think I’ll Kill ‘Grimes’ soon. It will be a public execution followed by – by something else. I shouldn’t say yet”. The artist also legally changed her name from Claire Boucher to ‘c’ in May 2018. Although we can’t glean much from the new teaser, at least we have a confirmed date for new music. In the meantime, Grimes is probably warming up for the album’s release in her deprivation tank, “astro-gliding to other dimensions”. Same TBF. Watch the teaser below. Escape the algorithm!
