If, like us, your knowledge of American football is nonexistent and you only watch the Super Bowl for the halftime show, you were probably quite excited when Kendrick Lamar was announced as this year’s performer. Now, in some news that will also interest you non-sporting people, Lamar’s historic halftime performance is also coming with an added dose of fashion. The Cali rapper has just dropped a new collection with US designer and man-of-the-moment Willy Chavarria, a limited edition capsule to celebrate the big day. Making up the offering are some very Willy-esque pieces, like an oversized black bomber, with ‘K Lamar’ embroidery, some baggy gym shorts and a Super Bowl LIX hoodie.

“I partnered with Kendrick Lamar’s pgLang and the NFL because of the opportunity to reach an audience that feels familiar to me,” Chavarria said in a statement. “We spent a lot of time on the fits and the vibe, and Kendrick tied in everything to get it spot on. Working with Kendrick is an important cultural moment for the two of us. We both have an unwavering voice when it comes to our people.”

In other fashion news this week, there was no rest for the wicked as Chavarria also made his Paris Fashion Week men’s debut last Friday with a star-studded, ode to Chicano culture. Also in the French capital, Jacquemus returned to the schedule in an expectedly grand fashion, Peter Copping made his Lanvin debut, Kiko Kostadinov went raw and rugged for AW25, and Comme des Garçons’ new military-inspired collection said “to hell with war.”

Elsewhere, it was a big week for debuts as Alessandro Michele made his own for Valentino Haute Couture; Daniel Roseberry flew close to the sun with his Schiaparelli SS25 couture show Icarus; Glenn Martens was announced as John Galliano’s successor at Maison Margiela; while Kim Jones said au revoir to Dior men’s.
