Since the late Alber Elbaz departed Lanvin in 2015, the French maison – widely regarded as the oldest couturier in the land – has been in dire need of a refresh, after successive failed attempts over the last nine years. The man for the job was Peter Copping, the British designer who’s had stints at Nina Ricci, Oscar de la Renta, and more recently under Demna as head of Balenciaga’s VIP department. Choosing to present a co-ed collection for his big introduction, it was Copping’s Lanvin debut that closed out the final night of Paris Fashion Week men’s.
