Now, though, we finally have info about its release. The film, directed by Reiner Holzemer – who also directed Dries, the Dries Van Noten documentary – will premiere at the Doc NYC film festival on November 8. As previously revealed, the release will be overseen by London’s Dogwoof and feature music from the Belgian-based band dEUS. Given that Margiela has been out of the public eye for so long – besides working on a Paris exhibition in early 2018 – there’s understandable excitement about this insight into his life/work. In fact, the Doc NYC description gives us a bit more of an idea about what to expect, reading: “Margiela digs into his meticulous and idiosyncratic personal archives to reflect on his revolutionary career and legacy.” Dogwoof’s website adds that the film features interviews with, among others, Jean Paul Gaultier and Carine Roitfeld. International release dates are still, unfortunately, TBC.
