Taking place just two days before international art fair Art Basel kicks off in the city, the move makes total sense. In his short time as Dior menswear’s artistic designer, Kim Jones has already joined forces with the likes of Daniel Arsham, Hajime Sorayama, and KAWS on a series of installations and collaborations, and his interest in contemporary art well documented. It’s also a poignant move for the house, nodding to the extensive tour of the United States Christian himself embarked on in 1947. “The US was the first place after France where Christian Dior enjoyed success, and I am looking at a project he did in the 1950s in the States as a starting point for Fall,” Jones explains. “I am really looking forward to presenting our first men’s show in the US as the perfect precursor to Art Basel.” Check out the SS20 Dior menswear collection – which features a collaboration with visionary artist Daniel Arsham – in the gallery above.
