Pharrell Williams just walked in the latest Chanel showFashionNewsPharrell Williams just walked in the latest Chanel showFor realShareLink copied ✔️December 5, 2018FashionNewsText Emma Elizabeth Davidson It’s been a pretty big week for New York when it comes to fashion. Not only did Sophia the Robot sit front row – alongside the likes of Teyana Taylor and 21 Savage – at Alexander Wang’s show on Saturday, Donatella Versace also chose to decamp to from Milan to the city that never sleeps to stage her latest presentation (which featured a new iteration of JLo’s iconic jungle dress, FYI). Next up was Chanel, as designer Karl Lagerfeld opted to host his 2018 Métier d’Arts show at the NYC Metropolitan Museum of Art last night. And, much like at Wang’s show, there was one particularly special guest: Pharrell Williams. Unlike Sophia, though, the N*E*R*D member gave the front row a miss and instead opted for a space on the catwalk, making up a cast of models including Adesuwa and Karl’s current favourite girl Kaia Gerber. Taking place in the Hall that houses the Egyptian Temple of Dendur and attended by guests including Lily-Rose Depp, Sofia Coppola, and Marion Cottilard, the collection itself was made up of double-denim jacket and jean sets, metallic overcoats, and a lot of gold, as well as a number of hats designed in collaboration with Parisian milliner Maison Michel. Pharrell himself wore a pair of gold trousers and a Christmas jumper, but make it fashion-style Fair Isle knit. Of course, this isn’t the first time he’s appeared on the Chanel runway, and, given he’s set to join forces with Karl on an upcoming collection, it’s unlikely to be the last. The collection is due to be released in spring 2019 – watch this space.
