Grimes says she’s creating a ‘lesbian space commune’ post-Elon Musk split

Will Azealia be invited?

ICYMI, Grimes and Elon Musk have broken up after three years of dating. And, it turns out, their son X AE A-XII isn’t the only thing they’ll share custody of, as the pair appear to have amicably agreed to separately colonise Mars.

In an interview with Page Six, Grimes revealed her post-break-up plans. “I’ll be colonising (one of Jupiter’s moons) Europa separately from Elon for the lesbian space commune,” she announced. The commune will be the perfect place for Grimes to record her new album, which is set to be a space opera about a lesbian AI romance.

Speaking to Page Six last week, Musk shed more light on the couple’s split. “We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently, and are on great terms,” he said. “It’s mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or travelling overseas, and her work is primarily in LA. She’s staying with me now and baby X is in the adjacent room.”

Grimes and Musk debuted their relationship at the Met Gala in 2018, later announcing that the musician was pregnant with their first child in January 2020. Baby X was born in May last year, but faced a legal challenge to his initial name, A Æ A-12, which was eventually changed to the much more sensible X AE A-XII.

Despite joining Musk for a Mario-themed courtroom drama on Saturday Night Live, in recent months, Grimes has called on her fans to stop “harassing” her for being with the capitalist billionaire. “I am not my bf’s spokesperson,” she said in August, after reminding fans the previous month that Musk “doesn’t fund my career”.

TBC who’ll make the guest-list for Grimes’ lesbian Mars commune, but here’s hoping Azealia Banks gets an invite. The rapper famously has a turbulent relationship with the couple, once refusing to leave Musk’s house until Grimes came to finish a song with her. It seems Grimes’ break-up with Musk may repair this relationship, however, as Banks said last week that she wants to collab with Grimes now “apartheid Clyde” (Musk) is “out of the way”. Although, Grimes’ last track was about Banks trying “to destroy my life”, so the rapper may find herself stuck on Earth a little longer.
