Arriving ahead of Bleachers’ third studio album, Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night, the single features Del Rey on backing vocals, over a low-key guitar track about yearning for companionship. “I’m sick of chasing after holy ghosts,” Antonoff sings. “Been trying to tell you I want you the most.” The track marks the return of the pair’s creative partnership. Antonoff previously co-wrote and produced Lana Del Rey’s last two albums, 2019’s Norman Fucking Rockwell!, and Chemtrails Over the Country Club, which arrived in March this year. However, Del Rey’s latest songs — “Blue Banisters”, “Text Book”, and “Wildflower Wildfire” — have marked a departure from the years-long collaborative streak. All three singles are taken from her upcoming album, Blue Banisters, which features production from Kanye West collaborator Mike Dean. Bleachers’ new record, Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night, is due to be released later this week, on July 30. Listen to “Secret Life” below. Escape the algorithm!
