Now, it’s time for a break. The rapper has announced her upcoming hiatus with a series of images posted to Instagram, showing her wearing space age breathing apparatus, then submerged in a liquid-filled glass chamber, wearing the Galliano-inspired newsprint bodysuit from her debut album cover. In a third post, a computer readout explains: “Megan Thee Stallion is recharging! Due to the demands of the Hot Girl lifestyle <Meg> has now entered a period of regeneration to prepare for what’s next.” “In her absence,” it adds, “mgmt will manage all social posting on behalf of Thee Hot Girl Coach. [[Thee Hotties]] lead a brave //RESISTANCE in anticipation for the return of their Fearless Captain!” On Twitter, Meg also briefly addresses her (well-deserved) decision to take some time off, writing: “I’ll be back when it’s time.” Barring potential coronavirus cancellations, Megan Thee Stallion is set to return to the spotlight for a variety of festivals this summer, including Rolling Loud Miami in July, and Bonnaroo and Parklife in September. Following the release of Good News in November 2020, she featured alongside Doja Cat on Ariana Grande’s “34+35” remix, and in January released visuals for “Body”, directed by music video maker Colin Tilley (of “WAP” fame).
