Including Dua Lipa’s Versace hat-trick, Harry Styles’ feather boas, Kali Uchis’ barely-there Mugler, and Beyoncé’s Schiaparelli Couture
It’s week 32,687 of lockdown, and, to quote André Leon Talley, we are starved of beauty. Thankfully, last night marked the 63rd annual Grammys and a dose of some much-needed glamour. As the awards ceremony that saw Lady Gaga hatch out of an egg she’d sat in for 72 hours, J.Lo lay the groundwork for Google Images in that Versace dress, and Cardi B show up as the modern-day Venus in straight-from-the-archives Mugler, those attending had some pretty big shoes to fill, however. The good news is that, when it comes to the lewks, we’ve got you covered: bringing you everything – or rather everything noteworthy – that graced the virtual red carpet. Click through the gallery below.
DUA LIPA
Showing up to the pre-show in a slick black Versace tux, Dua looked in Donatella’s direction once again when it came to her showstopper. Simple, sleek, and Swarovski-d to within an inch of its life, the singer looked every bit the perfect pop star in the floor-length, rose-tinted, nearly-naked gown. Going for a Versace hat-trick, she rounded things off with a glittering bra and big knickers when it came to her performance.
BEYONCÊ
Ladies, gentlemen, and those who do not ascribe to archaic gender norms, we bring you the most decorated Grammy winner in history – Ms. Beyoncé Knowles – in fresh from the runway Schiaparelli (complete with stringless mask). Drink it all in.
DEV HYNES
The Blood Orange icon joined Harry Styles on stage for his “Watermelon Sugar” performance in a leather coat and black beret. No sign of a feather boa in this instance: given Styles wore three different iterations throughout the night, seemingly Dev didn’t manage to get his hands on one.
DOJA CAT
Okay, now we’re talking. The “Say So” singer – who was up for three awards but took home none – went for OTT Roberto Cavalli as she took her turn on the red carpet. That unzipped-to-the-navel biker jacket-inspired bodice! Those lime green marabou feather frills! The whole thing harks back to the halcyon days of the early 00s, and naturally, we are extremely here for it.
DOJA CAT (PT.II)
Later, Doja slipped into some skin-tight Jean Paul Gaultier and a Gottmik-indebted anal bead-esque ponytail for her performance – which we think is definitely worth a mention.
BAD BUNNY
Viva la kilt – particularly when it comes to this ankle-length Burberry number, straight off Riccardo's AW21 runway.
HALLE BAILEY
Styled, as usual, by the inimitable Zerina Akers, both stars looked chic AF in full Louis Vuitton lewks, care of Nicolas Ghesquière. While Halle went for a cute mini...
KALI UCHIS
Scoring her first Grammy for collaborative Kaytranada track “10%”, Kali Uchis served body and tbh also face in a barely-there bodysuit by Mugler maestro Casey Cadwallader.
HAIM
In a sentence you probably weren’t expecting to hear this fine Monday morning, the Haim sisters were a vision in periwinkle. But this wasn’t any ordinary periwinkle: this was Prada periwinkle. Swiped straight from the runway of Miuccia and Raf’s SS21 show, the look came complete with one very Prada signature, as Alana clutched her coat together at her chest. Chic!
BILLIE EILISH
Billie Eilish turned up to the 2021 Grammys in a full Gucci look, before changing into... yet another full Gucci look for her heart-twisting performance of “everything i wanted”. Are we surprised? No. Would we have it any other way? Also no.
