The country singer was an unexpected addition to “Old Town Road” when the hit got its most popular remix in 2019. In the interview, Lil Nas X also speaks about keeping in touch with the older Cyrus, saying that he texted to see how he was doing “a month or so ago”. Since “Old Town Road”, Lil Nas X has also linked up with Miley Cyrus at a Tom Ford show, as well as performing a festive skit with her for a livestream event late last year. “We didn’t get to meet up or anything,” he says of the plans to collaborate in the new interview. But there’s still hope, as he adds: “maybe it will happen now.” Besides announcing his first children’s book last year, Lil Nas X released the Christmas-themed track “Holiday”. Miley Cyrus, meanwhile, revived her iconic Backyard Sessions over lockdown, sharing a wide array of covers. Plastic Hearts, her most recent album, arrived in November, 2020.
