Fyre Festival may have taken place over three years ago now, but in another sense it still lives on to this day, whether that’s in the merch line released this summer, or the multiple documentaries that have been produced about the doomed luxury festival, or event producer Andy King’s rather unconventional rise to fame. There’s really no forgetting that picture of a soggy cheese sandwich.

For Billy McFarland, the festival’s founder and a “serial fraudster” (in the words of one US District Judge), Fyre Festival is presumably even more difficult to forget, since what went on behind the scenes of the failed event, among other scams, landed him in prison, facing six years behind bars. That wouldn’t stop him recording a new podcast about it though, would it? Of course not.

Recorded via 15-minute phone conversations over the course of a week, Dumpster Fyre will reportedly feature McFarland talking about his involvement in the festival with podcaster Jordan Harbinger, in an attempt to “start from the beginning and go through every step and just kind of keep it raw”.

According to the Daily Mail, he also claims that he intends to “not have an agenda for what’s being told”, though 100% of the profits will go towards paying back the $26 million that McFarland owes various investors and a ticket broker.

In a teaser posted to Instagram ahead of the podcast itself – which is set to arrive later today – McFarland introduces himself, saying: “This is inmate number 91186054, otherwise known as Billy McFarland, the founder of Fyre Festival. I’m currently serving my 29th month in federal prison at FCI, Elkton in Ohio. This is my story.”
