Depending on where you work – and how merciless your boss might be – office dress codes usually loosen up a little during a heatwave. Roll up your sleeves! Take off your tie! Maybe even flash a knee or two, some employers might say. Harry Styles, however, is not letting himself off quite so easily. On his 12-date Together Together residency at Wembley Stadium, Styles has taken a hardline approach to his own dress code, upholding the corporate chic standards he set earlier on in the tour, despite London’s rising temperatures (and Wembley issuing a safety warning for tonight’s show). A fashion trooper if we’ve ever seen one.

Admittedly, the singer did briefly let his pins out when he wore some black hot pants from Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY, but until then things had been a little more covered up. This past weekend saw Styles take to the stage in a slick suit designed by Celine’s Michael Rider, which definitely would’ve turned things up a couple degrees. The look consisted of a double-breasted jacket in wool gabardine, mohair wool trousers, a blue silk shirt and Paisley patterned tie. Throughout the tour, Styles has layered up in 80s inspired suits from fashion’s biggest names. Last week, just before it started getting properly hot, Prada was the go to brand for Styles, as he greeted Wembley crowds in a mustard yellow jacket, hot pink woollen jumper and mohair trousers, with Prada’s current It-shoe, the Collapse, on his feet. And last month, before he came to London, Styles went for Calvin Klein in Amsterdam: billowing blue trousers, a butter yellow blazer, blood red t-shirt and lace-up boxing boots.

Styles’ current approach to his outfits is a far cry from his last tour, where the looks were dominated by pink feather boas and Elton John jumpsuits. Though it’s quite the change, the quirked-up corporate wear feels right for the vibe of the album he’s currently touring, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. By the end of each night at Wembley, Styles forgoes the hardline approach and lets loose: he throws off his jacket, undoes his tie and rolls up his sleeves, careening around the colossal stage like a 10-year-old on a sugar high. Maybe, then, this fashion era isn’t about the restraints of corporate dressing, but slowly peeling back layers and letting the disco set you free.
