Fashion / NewsFashion / NewsMacaulay Culkin is doing this fashion Christmas campaign for the moneyWearing an ugly jumper and stroking a pet iguana, the actor has teamed up with Happy Socks this holiday seasonShareLink copied ✔️November 5, 2019November 5, 2019Text Jessica Heron-Langton Synonymous with everything Christmas, Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin has decided to continue his position as the patron saint of all things festive by teaming up with Happy Socks for its latest campaign. But did he do it because Christmas is so entrenched within his soul? I hear you ask, or because spreading festive joy is his true life calling? Well in so many words. “Money. Mostly money,” was his reasoning, actually. Time may have deterred Culkin’s Christmas spirit, but it hasn’t ours, and in the world of fashion the holidays mean one thing – campaigns. We have already seen Megan Thee Stallion recount her favourite Christmas traditions for Coach, and now we have the Boy King of Christmas himself stroking a pet iguana with chipped red nail polish, smirking at the camera, quipping, “I’m getting too old for this shit.” The Naughty or Nice collection, (Culkin says he is naughty… in case you were wondering), which is available in a variety of colours and designs, was inspired by the actor’s desire to do something “fun, playful, season-appropriate, and involving bunnies.” “I love bunnies,” he said. Recreating the iconic Home Alone cover while wearing his favourite pair of Happy Socks and best ugly jumper, what more could get you in the spirit of Christmas than a bit of shameless promotion. We are all too used to celebrity plug-ins sprinkled throughout the months of November and December, in the good old spirit of Christmas of course, and Culkin’s dry acknowledgement of this is the ultimate meta Christmas advert for our post-capitalist world.
