Rather than staging its show in Milan, designer Miuccia Prada will be taking the label to Shanghai – the first time a menswear collection for the house will be presented outside of its native of Italy. “China has always occupied a prominent place in Prada’s imagination: in particular, the city of Shanghai and its rich cultural life,” Miuccia explains on the choice of location. “The attitude and identity of Shanghai, its dynamic fusions of past and present, old and new, are sources of constant exchange and interest.” The show will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the twinning of Milan and Shanghai. Like Prada, Givenchy will also be dropping its next collection in unchartered territory – joining the Pitti schedule as a guest designer. In addition to the Shanghai-based show, Prada will host a musical performance during MFW on June 14. Watch Prada’s AW19 menswear show below.
