London Fashion Week is going completely fur-free

Like, fur real

Just yesterday, British label Burberry announced that it would be going fur-free – with the inclusion of Riccardo Tisci’s debut collection. Now, the British Fashion Council has announced that London Fashion Week as a whole will also be ditching the controversial material.

“The BFC supports the creativity of designers and keeps an open dialogue with the industry, from designers to media, retailers, business leaders, government, and global brands while encouraging designers to make ethical choices when it comes to their selection of materials and supply chain,”  it said in a statement.

For years, LFW has found itself targeted by anti-fur protestors – one even stormed the runway at Mary Katrantzou’s AW18 show. Outside of LFW, brands like Versace, Tom Ford, and Gucci have also gone fur-free. With such a landmark decision made by the BFC, how long will it be before Milan and Paris follow suit?
