Throughout today, the New York photographer, artist and model has snapped herself dancing through the corridors of her hotel, combing her hair under cherry blossom trees and showing her collection of Japanese stickers from her Gucci Dionysus bag. Collins isn’t the first star to take over the house’s account – in January, actress, model and writer Hari Nef did so, shortly before walking in the house’s AW16 menswear show at Milan Fashion Week. Collins’ take over however, comes in the same week as the unveiling of the house’s Pre-Fall 2016 campaign, which featured new faces Nicole Atieno and Polina Oganicheva as well as a surprise cameo from a flock of flamingoes. Ranked on the Dazed 100, Collins’ appearance in Gucci’s AW16 womenswear show was an effortless transition from her usual work as an agenda-setting photographer. Known exploring the reality of the female experience in her work, Collins’ pastel-tinged photography captures the power and beauty of female youth; she also champions the work of emerging talents through her all-female collective The Ardorous. Stayed tuned for her film project coming out next year. Vote for Petra Collins in the Dazed 100 here Escape the algorithm!
