When the Tumblr icon turned it girl isn’t starring in Jill Soloway’s acclaimed television series Transparent or penning essays on trans visibility for Lena Dunham’s email newsletter ‘Lenny’, she’s a model. And she reminded us of the fact this morning, when she took to the catwalk at Gucci’s AW16 menswear show, modelling an all-red look from Alessandro Michele’s latest collection for the house. Signed to IMG Models (the same agency that represents Gisele Bündchen, Kate Moss, Stephanie Seymour and Milla Jovovich), this wasn’t Nef’s runway debut. She’s previously walked for cult labels of New York’s fashion scene such as Eckhaus Latta, Adam Selman and Vejas, but this was her Milan Fashion Week debut, and her first time modelling for such a major brand. In some senses, Nef’s appearance at the Gucci’s show isn’t a surprise. Aside from taking over the house’s Snapchat account over the last 24 hours – she perfectly embodies creative director Alessandro Michele’s vision, which is young, bohemian, gender-fluid. “I think (Michele) works from his heart,” said Nef, speaking backstage at the show. “It's an authentic vision and I'm so happy to be a part of it...I’ve never walked in Europe and I’ve never walked in a show this big.” “I started out as friends with Alessandro – I met him while I was in LA,” she went on to say. “I had requested a dress to wear for the Transparent premiere and then he requested dinner with me at Chateau Marmont, and we just hit it off. He’s a great guy and he sees people, he sees characters...he doesn’t really see a lot of the labels. To work with the team has been a joy. I can genuinely say it’s been amazing.” Expand your creative community and connect with 15,000 creatives from around the world.READ MOREAmelia Gray answers the dA-Zed quizTrail shoe to fashion trailblazer: the rise of Salomon’s ACS PROIn pictures: 2hollis’s London show brought out the city’s best dressedThis is the only England shirt you need for next year’s World CupWhat went down at the Contre Courant screening in Paris Exclusive: Fashion East set to win big at the 2025 Fashion AwardsFashion designer Valériane Venance wants you to see the beauty in painLegendary fashion designer Pam Hogg has diedRevisiting Bjork’s massive fashion archive in the pages of DazedWelcome to Sophia Stel’s PalaceJake Zhang is forging fashion avatars for a post-physical worldThis New York designer wants you to rethink the value of hard work
