Founded by Madeleine Vionnet in Paris in 1912, the house’s namesake couturière was a proud ‘enemy of fashion’ who gave women the bias cut and changed the way they dressed forever, heralding a new era of sleek dressing. Vionnet was the design house for the woman who wanted femininity on her terms – and, after a long-awaited resurgence, it still is. Marking the fifth season under the tenure of Goga Ahkanazi, this season’s story sees the brand’s codes re-interpreted once more. Taking this tension – between discipline and fragility – as the inspiration behind the brand’s collaborative shoot with Dazed, photographer Felix Cooper and stylist Adam Winder introduce the brand’s languid all-girl troupe, balancing ethereal beauty with balletic shapes, as Winder explains: “We wanted to create something influenced by movement, dance and repetition, that concentrated on the beauty in this.” All clothes and accessories by VionnetPhotography Felix Cooper, styling Adam Winder Photography Felix Cooper; styling Adam Winder; hair Louis Ghewy at The Book Agency; make-up Ninni Nummela at Streeters; models Alicja at IMG, Izzy and Kathryn at M+P, Issa and Mitch I at Jill Models; photographic assistants Andrew Moores, Sarah Stenfeldt; styling assistant Chiori Takamatsu; set designer William Farr; lighting ProLighting London; casting Noah Shelley Escape the algorithm!
