How they wore it: A palette of earthy tones and natural fabrics like wool, cotton, shearling and leather were at the heart of this season’s collection. Knee length tailored shorts were thickly cuffed, turtle necks and white shirts were layered beneath cable knits and tapered trousers hung loose, tightened at the waist with skinny belts. Howell introduced 60s influences – headbands pulled blunt fringes back, paisley scarves were fastened behind necks and Peter Pan collars made a brief appearance while black patent Mary Janes and slim bootie-style shoes were paired with ankle socks. The soundtrack: A selection of all-female classics such as Jackie DeShannon’s “When You Walk In The Room”, Carole King’s “I Feel The Earth Move” and Carmel’s “More More More” felt in sync with Howell’s laid back designs.
