The convergence of the ocean, mountains, and some of the City of Angel’s best shopping makes the stretch of land a must-visit spot for locals and tourists alike. Last Wednesday night, April 15th, LAs hottest event was held in the neighbourhood, at Oakley’s Santa Monica location. In partnership with Dazed, the California-based brand welcomed local creatives, tastemakers and friends of the brand for a night of celebrating the new Field Gear Line Collection. Designed in Japan and officially released this spring, the Field Gear Line Collection includes everything from heavy-duty jackets to breathable shorts, and was built to weather a range of conditions. Along with the new pieces, the brand also recently released revamped iterations of its eyewear, meaning that, for those looking to refresh their wardrobe, there’s no shortage of apparel and accessories to shop. Below, we break down everything that happened at the recent event. THE FIELD GEAR LINE COLLECTION STOLE THE SHOW Photography Alex Free Though Oakley’s pieces lean performance-heavy, there’s no rules against wearing the collection outside of rough terrain. Case in point, guests of last Thursday’s event put the brand’s new pieces to test, styling them for a more casual setting. EVERYONE HAD A PAIR OF SUNGLASSES ON Photography Alex Free At the kickback, attendees were able to try on Oakley’s sought-after eyewear, and take home a new pair themselves. While you can say what you want about wearing sunglasses indoors, at an activation for Oakley of all brands, everyone gets a pass. Guests of the night came fitted in a range of looks, many of which were (obviously) accessorised with a pair of Oakley glasses. THE MUSIC DIDN’T STOP Photography Alex Free Thanks to Debbiesthuglife and Shay Elys, there was more than just fashion to enjoy at the function. The DJs kept the music going all night, making the space feel more like a club than a retail store. Escape the algorithm!
