Leonard Cohen says it best on the accompanying press notes – "Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in." It was hardly cracked with Lim's propensity for perfectly judged chic but the contrast between rich brocades, painterly florals and geometric embossed organza did make for an interesting experimentation in textiles development. Set: A series of rooms separated by transparent panes on white wooden frames like a pared back take on Japanese Washitsu interiors, lit up by a soft coral light. Stand out pieces: Stiffened edge curled dresses snaking around the body in abstracted window pane embossing and brush stroke flowers. Last season Phillip Lim brought ‘Soleil’ to NYFW, in suspender dresses, blue tights and sequins.
