Their 2022 debut, I Love You Jennifer B – shortlisted for a Mercury Prize – was a sonic funhouse of styles and sounds; an unpredictable and ambitious mix of songwriting and dance music (and dubstep and folk and jazz) that took the pair’s classical training at London’s prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and stretched it to delightful extremes. Their follow-up I<3UQTINVU (shorthand for ‘I Love You Cutie, I Envy You’) is a remix album, but not in the conventional sense. The songs don’t even have the same names, with new titles based on the chopped-up samples that characterise the record. Featuring the likes of Coby Sey, Kirin J Callinan and Ersatz, the album is a whacky reimagining of their debut, built from a smattering of vocal cuts and chopped-up acoustics set against Skye’s warped electronics. “It's like eating too much and then throwing up and this is what comes out,” said Skye in a statement. “It's a weird feeling but also really fun. I felt very happy making some of this music and live it will be quite the show.” Elsewhere, Actress shares a new album, Bar Italia return with another project, and Kevin Abstract returns with a grungey record.
