It’s Friday night and Dorian Electra is throwing an unholy communion for the launch of their single “Sodom and Gomorrah“. Chelsea Manning is on the decks and the Frost Children’s Angel and Lulu can be spotted amongst the crowd. A group of people cloaked in monastic robes circle the altar. Everywhere there are posters, hats, t-shirts – even thongs – plastered with the words “I <3 SODOMY”. Begin show. Inspired by the biblical story of Sodom & Gomorrah, two cities that were so sinful that God destroyed them, the alt-pop provocateur’s latest track is a trashy, sexy take on noughties pop – with a post-apocalyptic twist. With DJ sets from Chelsea Manning, Miss Madeline, DJ Perfect, DJ Trick, DJ Fuck and Count Baldor, the night was an equally sinful affair, featuring familiar faces from New York’s Downtown: Club Cringe, Perfectly Imperfect, Neoliberal Hell – and, of course, The Cobrasnake. So, sprinkle some holy water and take a look at some of the highlights from the night in the gallery above.
