Tonight (December 18), Charli XCX will perform as the musical guest on the last episode of SNL for 2021, but she won’t be alone. As revealed in a statement posted the day before the show airs, Caroline Polachek and Christine and the Queens are set to join the musician onstage.
ICYMI, the trio also recently linked up on Charli’s recent song “New Shapes”. Released November 4, the track is the latest single from the singer’s forthcoming fifth studio album, Crash.
Also set to join Charli during her performance is Luis Aponte, the drummer for the Philadelphia-based hardcore band Jesus Piece. According to Stereogum, her team reached out to Aponte after a video of his performance at an all-day punk show went viral earlier this year, resulting in the unexpected collaboration.
Before “New Shapes”, Charli XCX released the first single of her new, “ultimate pop” era, titled “Good Ones”. The follow-up to how i’m feeling now is set to arrive in full on March 18, 2022, with her quarantine documentary Alone Together airing earlier in the year (January 28).
