Courtney Love calls on Elon Musk to pay his ‘fair share’ of taxes

Apparently, the grunge icon has been lurking in the SpaceX founder’s ‘str8, male, PayPal mafia email group’ for months

What brings together Bernie Sanders, Tesla, 90s grunge, and HBO’s Succession? If you answered Courtney Love’s latest Twitter post, then congratulations: the former Hole frontwoman has taken to the platform to call out Elon Musk over his reply to the Vermont senator and winter style icon last month.

In case you missed it, Bernie Sanders publicly called for the wealthiest US citizens to pay a fair amount of taxes in a November 14 tweet that read: “We must demand that the extremely wealthy pay their fair share. Period.”

Obviously, Elon Musk — AKA the “richest person in the history of the world”, according to Forbes — had some strong feelings about this statement, which, as always, he dealt with in a very mature manner. “I keep forgetting that you’re still alive,” he writes in response to Bernie’s post.

Now, Courtney Love has seemingly stumbled across last month’s Twitter exchange, and she’s having none of it. Sharing a screenshot of Musk’s reply, she’s directly called out the SpaceX founder in a new tweet, claiming that she was bcc’d on his “str8, male, PayPal mafia email group” for months.

“With that information in mind, don’t you think in a ‘civilized society’ one should embrace paying our fair share of tax?” she goes on. “Don’t pick on Bernie.”

“It’s Kendall Roy shit,” the musician adds, in reference to the Succession character (having previously shown her love for the show by approving its use of Kurt Cobain’s Nirvana track “Rape Me” in season three).

Despite the lingering threat of Love having access to Musk’s “PayPal mafia” messages — a threat she acknowledges with a sly teapot emoji — it seems that she doesn’t intend on actually spilling the tea, however. “Relax. I’m a GOOD Queen,” she continues. “Capitalism & the American dream has been good to you. Be good to it. #justpayyourtaxesbuddy.”

Besides, Courtney Love has plenty of legal issues on her plate already, including the ongoing lawsuit filed by Spencer Elden, who posed as a stark naked baby for Nirvana’s Nevermind album cover. In the lawsuit, Love is named as a defendant alongside other managers of Cobain’s estate, and surviving band members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic.
