Earlier this year, BloodPop, one of the main producers on Lady Gaga’s sixth studio album, Chromatica, hinted at a potential remix album on Twitter. Since then, Rina Sawayama, Grimes, Charli XCX, Bree Runway, Shygirl, and Dorian Electra have confirmed appearances on the record.
Now, experimental-pop musician Arca has announced her own appearance on the album. Dropping the news on her Discord, the singer revealed that she will be remixing Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain On Me”.
““Rain On Me” remix is soooo good,” said Arca. “Y’all are gonna gag.”
Continuing, the musician explained that she’ll be featuring two songs from her fourth studio album, KiCk i, which released in 2020. “Okay it’s two songs… off KiCk i… it stomps and shreds,” she stated. “(It) samples my songs “Time” and “Mequetrefe.”
Further, she noted that “Rain On Me” will draw from Changa Tuki – a genre of electronic music from Venezuela in the early 90s. “(It) includes a sample by my favourite changa tuki aka raptor house producer, DJ Yirvin – an iconic song called “Mételo Sáculo”,” she said.
Originally, BloodPop hinted that the album would be released this summer, however, Grimes stated that it has been delayed on Discord. “I missed the deadline but it got moved back so now we can do my monologue,” she explained. According to Arca, the “Rain On Me” remix will arrive ahead of its release on August 20.
Away from planet Chromatica, Gaga is teaming up once again with music legend, Tony Bennett, for her newest album Love For Sale. The 10-track record, which will mark Bennett’s final studio recording, will feature “a mix of jazz ensemble, big band, and orchestral arrangements”.
Otherwise, the singer is currently starring as the murderous Italian socialite, Patrizia Reggiani, in Ridley Scott’s much-anticipated Gucci murder film, House of Gucci. We rounded up Gaga’s best fashion looks from the film so far here.
