Yesterday (December 2019), XXL reported that the album passed a massive 2.8 billion streams on Spotify. Almost a billion of those streams came from Cardi B’s collaboration with Bad Bunny and J Balvin, “I Like It”. While Cardi hasn’t actually put out an album this year, she definitely hasn’t slowed down either, touring and playing festivals (where she brought out Lil Nas X, also featuring on his song “Rodeo”, which can’t have hurt her numbers). Besides that, the rapper (and now actress and host) has also had some pretty high-profile onscreen moments: she starred in a new hip hop talent show, had her first feature film role in Hustlers, and interviewed Bernie Sanders. “Ya ready for my second album?” she writes, in the caption to an Instagram post sharing the news. The sophomore album is due 2020, and now it’s got a lot to live up to.
