Ariana Grande is no stranger to broken records; “thank u, next” pipped both BTS and Taylor Swift to the most YouTube and Vevo views in 24 hours late last year, and in January her track “7 Rings” set a new UK streaming record, streamed 16.9 million times in a week.

Ari’s record-smashing streak isn’t showing signs of slowing down any time soon, though. This weekend the singer’s album, Thank U, Next – which includes both of the record-breaking tracks previously mentioned – passed 2 billion streams on Spotify.

While that ludicrous number isn’t technically a record in itself – her previous two albums, Sweetener and Dangerous Woman, have also passed the 2 billion mark – it does make her the first woman to pass 2 billion streams on three separate albums.

Her place as a pioneering female pop musician to go down in the history books is looking pretty secure right now (as if it wasn’t already). Obviously her recent Grammys controversy didn’t have much of a negative effect.
