Made up of t-shirts, patches, a cap, and a set of enamel pins bearing original imagery from the album’s artwork each piece from the limited edition offering can be customised by the wearer. Of course, this isn’t the first time Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim, Jamie Smith, and the iconoclastic Belgian designer have joined forces. Back in 2014, Simons invited The xx to play at New York’s Guggenheim museum for Dior, before he and the band worked together on the video for “I Dare You”, alongside legendary photographer Alasdair McLellan. The collaboration was first revealed in the latest issue of System magazine, as part of an editorial styled and photographed by Simons’ longtime collaborators Olivier Rizzo and Willy Vanderperre. Speaking of the project, the designer explained how the project came about, as well as his love and respect for The xx and their music. “The album represents a very distinct sensibility linked to youth culture at the time. It succeeds in articulating and putting into words what is going on in the minds of kids when they’re dealing with love, heartbreak, friendships. And not in the stereotypical way, it seemed much more real in a way. More authentic,” he told the publication. Check out the full collection in the gallery above.
