Now, with the argument regarding a woman’s right to choose continuing to rage across social media, Miley Cyrus has taken to Instagram to show her support for the pro-choice movement. Posting a photograph in which she is seen licking a cake bearing the statement ‘Abortion Is Healthcare‘, in the accompanying caption Cyrus teased an upcoming collaboration with Marc Jacobs, Planned Parenthood, and her own non-profit organisation, The Happy Hippie Foundation. Soon after, she posted a shot of herself and a pink hoodie emblazoned with ‘Don’t Fuck With My Freedom’ – a lyric taken from new EP She Is Coming track “Mother’s Daughter”. Designed in partnership with Jacobs, one hundred per cent of proceeds from the limited edition style will go to Planned Parenthood, the US-based organisation offering reproductive healthcare and fighting tirelessly against those seeking to strip women of their rights. The move comes soon after Alessandro Michele made his own political statement in regards to abortion. At the 2020 Gucci Cruise show, which took place in Rome last week, the designer sent out a number of pieces featuring embellished uteruses, the date the practise was legalised in Italy, and one particularly impactive jacket on which 70s slogan ‘My Body, My Choice’ appeared.
