In 2006, Sofia Coppola created one of the definitive artistic statements on the theme of girlhood with her riotously anachronistic biopic, Marie Antoinette. At NYFW, Sandy Laing returns to this iconic historical figure, and finds her just as fruitful a source of inspiration as Coppola did. The collection nods to Antoinette’s slippers, and the lush gardens of Petit Trianon, a chateau within the grounds of Versailles.
