The NYC-based artist has been enlisted in the second season of DC’s Titans
If you’re not familiar with the name Chella Man, he’s been quietly asserting himself in New York as an LGBTQ+ activist – Man is a genderqueer trans man – artist, and model, repped by LGBTQ+ only agency New Pandemics, which recently featured in the #InfiniteIdentities spring 2019 issue of Dazed. Elsewhere, he’s appeared as a model for Abercrombie & Fitch and in an all-Asian cast lookbook for Opening Ceremony’s AW19 collection.
Now, the model and activist is adding acting to his repertoire, joining the cast of DC’s comic book series Titans for its second season. Cast as Jericho, Man shared on Instagram that the character is also deaf, like he is. Man has been open about his deafness and gender identity on his YouTube channel with his girlfriend, Maryv Benoit.
“As a trans, Deaf, Jewish POC, I have always reminded myself of the power in my differences,” he says in the IG caption. “It’s a dream come true as I will now be able to showcase this power on the Titans.”
There is currently no release date for the show, but series two is set to debut sometime later this year.
