Lauryn Hill stars in her first fashion campaign

Woolrich enlisted the singer to model its AW18 collection

Woolrich has reason to celebrate its long heritage (the outerwear label has been going since 1830). As a nod to that, it has enlisted Lauryn Hill to front its AW18 campaign – aptly titled ‘Woolrich: American Soul since 1830’.

The shoot also marks Lauryn Hill’s first ever fashion campaign and comes in line with the 20th anniversary of her acclaimed debut album, The Miseducation of Lauryn HillThe campaign is styled by Mel Ottenberg (the celebrated stylist behind some of Rihanna’s best looks) and captured by photographer Jack Davison and sees the singer walking the streets of NYC’s Washington Heights, where she shot her iconic “Doo Wop (That Thing)” video outside the United Palace Theatre in 1998.

The campaign’s looks include a red Buffalo check coat and the brand’s ‘Arctic Parka’ – screen printed with collages of Hill – and in reference to her eclectic style the bespoke pieces are also embellished with bold text and appliqué. The campaign also features other, up-and-coming musicians Onyx Collective (a New York jazz ensemble), singer/songwriter Raphaelle, and blues/jazz singer Zarina Nares.
