At least, according to Alex Consani, behind the scenes on her new shoot for Dazed’s autumn 2025 issue. “If you’re not confident, then what the fuck are you doing?” she asks, in her accompanying guide to being Alex Consani (watch above). S is for strategic. “My strategy is just being authentic,” she adds, “and also just knowing how to walk.” As in, W for walk. Consani is plenty authentic in the cover story itself, which sees her in conversation with Vivian Wilson, the model and iconic figure of resistance in contemporary America. Together, they discuss speaking out on being trans, and how their trans identities feed into being uncensored across the board. “Shoutout to the dolls,” Consani adds in the behind-the-scenes video (because, after all, D is for dolls). “Being trans right now, it’s really important to speak up about your experiences, but also, more importantly, I think it’s important for people who aren’t in the community to speak up about the stuff that’s happening right now.” Consani herself became the first transgender Model of the Year at the UK Fashion Awards in 2024, and has been outspoken about increasing threats toward trans rights. Elsewhere in the video she shares some useful parenting advice, how she found a platform for creative expression as a model (T is for TikTok), and the origin of her username @captincroook.
