From removal of LGBT workers’ rights to the wall between the US and Mexico, it is likely that he will continue to be divisive during his term. His recent announcement that he would be moving the US embassy to Jerusalem – which he recognises as Israel’s capital – is the latest decision that has already been disagreed with by the governments of the UK, France and Germany. The ruling has already caused more unrest in the country, leading to riots that according to the BBC have injured at least 31 people. Among those who are against the decision are Bella Hadid and her father Mohamed, who both took to Instagram to express their disappointment. “Watching the news and seeing the pain of the Palestinian people makes me cry for the many many generations of Palestine,” the model said. “The TREATMENT of the Palestinian people is unfair, one-sided and should not be tolerated. I stand with Palestine.” Mohamed directed his post to Trump directly, explaining that it was the saddest day of his life as an American Palestinian. “Now Mr president Trump with a simple signature gave with no return Our beloved holy land Jerusalem to the Israelis as their capital ... this is not a real estate deal.” Bella has been very vocal against Trump since his election and has spoken out against his travel ban and told Porter earlier this year about her pride in being a Muslim. While it is unlikely that Trump will change his mind, we applaud the model for being vocal about the issue.
