It has been 40 years since the beginning of Vans, as a streetwear brand that has helped shape California style and influence street culture beyond. To commemorate this fact, a new book Vans: Off The Wall attempts to tell the story of a community of action sports legends, musicians and artists that have all done their bit to inspire Vans as a brand. Photography by the likes of Bryce Kanights, Art Brewer and Trevor Graves and insider accounts are interwoven with tidbits about the iconic shoes that Vans has created. Boarders like Tony Alva, Steve Caballero, John Cardiel and Shaun Palmer are featured as well as obsessive Vans collector Dimitro Coste who has amassed the most complete collction of Vans known (over 500 pairs).
