While the Peruvian may be better known for his images of women (he’s shot over 60 covers for British Vogue), he photographs men too – something you’ll be aware of if you follow his Towel Series on Instagram. It’s Testino’s male subjects that are the focus of his latest book, SIR, that brings together over 300 photos (many of which have not been seen before) from throughout his career. More than just celebrating the male body, this book looks at the shifting ways men present themselves and are, in turn, represented. “The way men are seen in photography, in fashion, and the way that men look at pictures of themselves has changed in recent years,” says Testino. “It is a subject that has come into focus: The masculine image, a man’s personal style, changing attitudes to the male face and body.” Now available from Taschen at a lower price, the book features many famous subjects including male pin-ups such as David Beckham (see below) and Brad Pitt, and musical icons including David Bowie, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.
