Initial reaction:

Mop-top teens stormed the runway to the sounds of punk rock, courtesy of London band Slaves – “Watch out for those kids ‘cause they’ll tear you apart”, snarled lead singer Jonny Craig as the models sauntered around the space.

How it was worn:

With Lynn’s signature punk rock attitude and a 90s grunge essence. For AW15, the designer mixed womens and menswear in a marriage of knitwear, tough leather and dyed fur. Deconstructed tailored blazers saw their arms hanging by a thread, knitted sleeves ran past cuff lengths and double-toned leather swamped bodies. Chests were bared, buckles exposed, zips unzipped and hidden fringing lined inner arms for a flash of 70s glam rock at its finest. Despite working amongst some of the best known rock stars in the world – including Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love – the designer was quick to rebut any intentional references in the collection. “I think you can’t help but absorb the energy that’s going on around you. I’m not claiming it’s art or anything – these are just clothes people can wear. I’m not thinking; ‘Oh I need to do that’, or ‘I need to do this.’ I need to take chances.’’

The soundtrack:

Known for drawing a parallel between rock ’n’ roll and his designs, this season saw show-goers treated to a live performance from a band Lynn discovered while channel surfing through Jools Holland. “I asked Slaves if they’d play and they said yes. I love them and I think that’s the type of thing that works, it’s symbiotic with what I do,” explained the designer after the show.
