Ones to watch: new faces of SS15

With the season's womenswear shows in full swing, Dazed's casting director Noah Shelley gives his verdict on the breakout stars of SS15

The right girl can bring a runway and a designer's vision to life. Dazed casting director Noah Shelley is renowned for his ability to scout new talent before it even reaches the catwalk, casting for clients including Rick Owens, Kenzo and Ann Demeulemeester. Spot on with his SS14 predictions of Sasha Luss, Malaika Firth and Ondria Hardin, Shelley now shares his picks for SS15 and his top five fresh faces. Check out Shelley's 17 girls of the season here.

RIANNE VAN ROMPAEY

Breakthrough moment:

Born in the Netherlands, 18-year-old Rianne van Rompaey walked in Nicolas Ghesquière’s debut AW14 show for Louis Vuitton. The Dutch model has since been photographed by Steven MeiselJuergen Teller and Karim Sadli, as well as walking in several of New York’s SS15 shows. 


Behind-the-scenes:

A quick skim of her Instagram will show a smattering of destination pics – Mallorca, Paris, New York and Monaco all included. You can also expect shots of Rianne riding horses in Lombok and petting elephants in Bali.

CLARENCE TENNESSEE HAASTER

Breakthrough moment:

While 19-year-old Clarence Tennessee Haaster (previously known as Clarence Charrondiere) is yet to have her first big break, the Parisian is expected to make her debut this Paris Fashion Week
.

Behind-the-scenes:

With only her agencies’ – The Lions (New York) and Silent Models (Paris) – images online, and no Twitter or Instagram to stalk, this androgynous beauty is a bit of an enigma. We’ll simply have to watch this space over the next few weeks.

ALEXANDRA ELIZABETH

Breakthrough moment:

17-year-old Alexandra Elizabeth Ljadov made her catwalk debut at Proenza Schouler’s SS14 show. The fresh-faced Estonian model is a favourite this New York Fashion Week, and has appeared in SS15 shows for Anthony Vaccarello x Versus, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Tommy HilfigerAltuzarra and Victoria Beckham.

Ljadov has been dancing from the age of three and knows her way around the piano.

JULIA BERGSHOEFF

Breakthrough moment:

Hailing from the Netherlands, 17-year-old Julia Bergshoeff was one of the few girls to walk in Prada's menswear SS14 show (wearing resort) and starred in Proenza Schouler’s AW14 campaign, which was captured by David Sims. This NYFW alone, the Kate Moss/Gisele Bündchen lookalike has walked in SS15 shows for Alexander Wang, Marc by Marc JacobsAnthony Vaccarello x Versus, Victoria Beckham, Donna Karen, rag & bone, closing for Proenza Schouler last night.

Bergshoeff is a keen photographer and only graduated high school in May this year.

JEAN CAMPBELL

Breakthrough moment:

Scottish-born Jean Campbell landed her first campaign for Burberry’s SS14 collection, where she featured alongside Malaika Firth and Jamie Campbell Bower. The 16-year-old has been photographed by Mario Testino, Annie Leibovitz, Tim WalkerJuergen Teller and David Sims, and appeared in Louis Vuitton’s AW14 campaign – she's exclusive to them all season.

Behind-the-scenes:

Campbell is literally fashion royalty: her official title is Lady Jean Campbell, and she’s the daughter of the Earl and Thane of Cawdor, who is the former British Vogue editor Isabella Cawdor.
