Nicolas Ghesquière's first show for Louis Vuitton has just wrapped (more on that later – you can rewatch our livestream here), but the first thing that greeted guests at the show was this touching typewritten letter on the seats. Ghesquière penned this sweet and personal note to describe his "immense joy" at being chosen to carry on the torch at Vuitton and hailing the work of his predecessor, Marc Jacobs.

"Does not every designer ultimately seek to create something timeless?" he asks. "I salute the work of Marc Jacobs, whose legacy I wholeheartedly hope to honour. And I thank you for being here to share this moment with me... Thanks to everyone who is here on this day, this morning. Right now."
