A slow tick beats ominously as the young man, “known by damp bright colours,” grips the handrail against the bobbing tide. O’Neill warns, “Man overboard!” as the man’s green fairisle knit is pulled down through the ocean amongst a plume of bubbles, the embroidered Golden Eagle soaring through the sea.
