The Bottega Veneta show may have opened with a classic grey suit, but it very quickly evolved into a hypnotizing mix of graphic prints – from broken checks to intense monochromatic patterns. Maier’s fascination with optical juxtapositions weren’t just confined to prints, but this interest made its way into his striking colour palette, where saturated reds, purples and greens ran seamlessly against muted tones of grey and black. Then came the exploration into surface texture and the wonderful contrasts he could explore. Luxurious suede bombers were off set by glossy calfskin and lightweight cottons - proving to be a visual delight. Escape the algorithm!
