Everything you want to know, including the lowdown on the controversial Walnut Scrub
Listen, I know what you’re thinking. Not another article about skincare products. I get it. I’ve got enough lotions, pills, and potions to last me a lifetime, but the desire to chase perfect glowing skin keeps me buying more and more.
Obviously I was thrilled to hear that there were more products I could get my hands on following the launch of Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Skin range – which launched last year, but has recently become available in the UK at the likes of Selfridges.
After receiving the collection – the face wash, toner, moisturiser, vitamin C serum, eye cream, and (eek!) face scrub – I only used the Kylie Skin products for just over a week and banished my others. First off, the products look and feel very luxurious despite their mid-level price range. The soft pink theme is very appealing and the details like the matte metal finish on the moisturiser and frosted transparent bottle of the face wash are a nice touch.
It wouldn’t be fair to judge the products on their impact on my skin in such a short amount of time, so instead, I’ve given you an honest lowdown on what they feel and smell like, as well as any short-term changes I noticed. Of course, this is just my opinion, we all have different yucks and yums and preferences when it comes to skincare, but if you’re a fanatic like me, it’s really all in the minor details.

Kylie Skin – Foaming Face Wash
A little of this really goes a very long way. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of a foamy face wash and prefer something a little more gentle. But, I will say that this leaves your face feeling very, very clean – potentially too clean if your skin is on the drier side – and it pretty much removed any eye make-up I was wearing when I used it. It’s quite fragrant, which I think could irritate over time, but for a deep clean every once in a while, this will definitely do the job.
Verdict: ”Wasted”. Not for me, but would be a keeper for those without sensitive skin.

Kylie Skin – Vanilla Milk toner
I love toner. If you don’t have toner in your skincare regime, then we need to talk. For years, I’ve used a variety of different standard liquid toners to varying degree of success. I have never come across a milky toner (more like a liquid/cream hybrid) so was really excited to try it out. The toner glides on to the skin and leaves it feeling super soft, thanks to its avocado oil and squalene formula. I won’t be going back!
Verdict: Realising things. I didn’t know I needed it, but I’m glad to have come to my senses.

Kylie Skin – Vitamin C serum
Despite being a skincare saviour, even after a week’s plus use, I didn’t get the glow I was hoping for from Kylie Skin’s version. The serum is creamier than other serums I’ve used in the past, but is packed with glycerine to refresh your skin. There’s also a smell that isn’t bad, but it was unpleasant for my nose. If you’re looking to add vitamin C to your routine, you might want to shop about a bit more.
Verdict: “WAP”. Barely a feature in the main event.

Kylie Skin – Face Moisturiser
For me, this is the hero of the collection. I hate the feeling of a thick cream sitting on my skin, but I desperately need the nourishment of a heavier formula to stop my skin from drying out. A first world problem, of course. After the toner left my skin feeling silky smooth, the moisturiser nourishes deeply, despite feeling light in your hands. I never felt greasy, even towards the end of the day, likely down to its glycerine and sodium hyaluronate (a derivative of the ever-popular hyaluronic acid) compound. It smells delicately fragrant too (not enough to irritate) thanks to oat and orange peel extract. A keeper!
Verdict: Riiise and shiiine. A masterpiece! Trademark it and get them coins.

Kylie Skin – Eye Cream
Some people swear by eye creams, I am unfortunately not one of those people. The formula to the Kylie Skin version includes caffeine, vitamin E, and pomegranate extract to make you look more awake and reduce puffiness. The latter isn’t a problem area for me, unlike dark circles which this didn’t help reduce. It did brighten slightly though.
Verdict: Cooking an egg on the sidewalk. A little pointless IMO, sorry!

Kylie Skin – Walnut Face Scrub
Last up, is the Walnut Face Scrub. Real talk, I was most nervous about using this on my face – especially after all the controversy – but, I did it in the name of journalism. It immediately confirmed my concerns that it was far too harsh for the skin on my face (even just applying gently) and without being a dermatologist, I’m sure it could do some damage if used long-term. On the positive side, I thought I’d try it as a body exfoliator instead (mostly on my arms) and was overjoyed at how it left them silky smooth.
Verdict: Is that a chicken? It’s not what its intended use is, but it gets results nonetheless.
