Yesterday, Cardi shared the recipe for the DIY hair mask which she said has been the secret to growing her hair and keeping it hydrated. “This works on any type of hair!” she writes in the caption accompanying the video. “Ya seen my hair journey since 2014. My hair didn’t pass my shoulder. With discipline it’s like this today.” Taking us through her routine step by step, Cardi says you first brush and detangle your hair. Then you make the mask which consists of avocado, two eggs, a heaping spoon of mayonnaise, and black castor oil “or whatever works on your hair.” Blend all the ingredients together then apply to your hair and wrap it up. Keep it on your hair as long as you can – “LET THAT MARINATE LIKE CHICKEN,” Cardi advises – before shampooing and conditioning. Then take homemade 24-hour rice water which Cardi says she puts outside so it can soak in the sun and spray it on your hair. Finish by putting your hair in rollers which she recommends you do before blow drying as direct heat onto wet hair will damage it. Take off the rollers and blow dry straight. And voilà! You are finished. Back in 2019, Cardi had hinted that she might be coming out with her own beauty line. Speaking in an interview, Cardi was asked if her beauty line was coming soon to which she laughed and responded “very.” Although the range has yet to materialise, the rapper has shared other recipes for homemade DIY self-care in the past. Asked by a follower how to do self-care when you’re broke, Cardi replied with a few tips and tricks on what you can do on a minimal budget. “Sis you don’t gotta have money for this… you can do facials with honey, olive oil, flat, curl your own hair, scrub your body with sugar, coffee, and oil.” Escape the algorithm!
