Discover them here. Swedish model and artist Charlie Wedin is about to take the modelling industry by storm… just as soon as they turn 16. Despite having already appeared in Vogue Italia last March and walking for N.Hoolywood at Tokyo Fashion Week, Charlie has to wait until that milestone birthday before they are legally allowed to model full time (in Sweden school is compulsory until the age of 16). Until then, Charlie is focusing on building their portfolio and working on their photography which ranges from straight-forward portraiture to more experimental styles. “For as long as I can remember,” they say, “I’ve been fascinated by how you can turn an idea in your head into something tangible with the power to change both yourself and others.” Charlie’s Instagram is peppered with creative make-up looks and fabulous wigs, although more often they appear fresh-faced and rosy-cheeked – with their striking high cheekbones, feline eyes and shaved head. Identifying as gender nonconforming and recently diagnosed with autism, Charlie lives with their cats in a small cabin in the countryside of south Sweden, biding their time until they can go out and see the world. “Soon I will be done with school and I’m really looking forward to leaving this small town and very excited to see what life has to offer,” they say. What's been your career highlight? This autumn I spent a month in Tokyo and it was a really cool experience. I got to meet so many inspiring, creative people. I think the show I did for N.Hoolywood at Tokyo Fashion Week was the highlight of my career so far. Tomorrow you wake up with another face of your choice. Whose and why?Maybe Troye Sivan since he is a person who has inspired a lot of people to be themselves, including me. You have to donate a feature/limb of your body to an icon of yours. You get nothing in return. What feature/limb do you give and why?Hard question! It’s not that I’m very attached to all my features/limbs, but I actually don’t have any special icons and if I had, I doubt they would appreciate receiving a part of my body. It's the year 2080 and the two sexes have become obsolete in favour of one single type of human. Describe your perfect evening in.That would by definition make my evening perfect since I would not have to get misgendered or questioned just because I exist. By then I would be quite old so I guess I would hang out with my friends and have some vegan pizza and just enjoy life. You have to replace your body with that of an animal or mythological creature. What do you go for and why?I really love leopards! They are beautiful and strong beings. It would be cool to have their body and be able to run that fast! You have the ability to live in a video game. Which would you choose and why?I have to confess that I actually had to google video games for this one since I’m not at all into gaming. Doing my research I came to think of a game I played when I was younger called Zelda. I remember thinking it was so cool that Zelda always was on a never-ending adventure. Escape the algorithm!
